[when he'd first learned about christmas, there'd been a heavy focus on it being about family. so when the idea of gifts had come up, he'd assumed that was the same. that presents, being a part of christmas, were only meant to be shared with family.

and then he found the gift from eleven, and promptly realized just how wrong he was.
